Eating Vegan in Reykjavik in 2023
Emilie And The Cool Kids
Emilie and the Cool Kids is an international franchise with a whole host of vegan options. This Reykjavik location makes delicious homemade vegan cookies and muffins, perfectly smooth coffee with vegan milk options, vegan cinnamon rolls, and they have a soup of the day which is also always vegan. I particularly enjoyed the range of scones here and the always delicious, soup of the day.

Valdis
Valdís is a very popular ice cream parlour in Reykjavík. There are 2 locations within Reykjavik, one in the city centre and one down by the harbour. They offer a range of flavours with marked vegan options including (at my time of visit); mango, strawberry, mojito and raspberry.

Penninn Eymundsson
Eymundsson is Iceland's oldest bookstore, established in 1872 and it operates 15 locations around Iceland with many of these being in Reykjavik city. The stores usually have a small coffee shop within them offering coffee with non-dairy milk and usually one or two different vegan sweet treats. I opted for a coffee and a vegan oat cookie - delicious!
Eldur og Is - Ice and Fire
Eldur og Is is a creperie, coffee shop and ice cream parlour right in the heart of Reykjavik. They have a few labeled vegan crepes (both savoury and sweet) or you can choose to make your own. I made my own with a vegan crepe, banana, hazelnuts and some vegan chocolate ice cream. Delicious!
Kaktus
Kaktus Espressobar is a café owned and run by two Icelandic friends that serve high-quality Italian coffee and great cuisine that fulfils every craving. They offer a soup of the day which is often vegan or a vegan eggplant and hummus sandwich.

Joe & The Juice
With a couple of different Iceland locations, Joe & The Juice offers a nice “go to” when you’re in need of a super smoothie or non-dairy coffee. My favourite Joe & The Juice smoothie is the vegan red supreme - a delectable blend of Cashew Coconut Drink, Ice, Avocado, Protein, Date, Beetroot Powder, Banana, Strawberries.
Mokka Kaffi
This beautiful old coffee shop is one of the oldest cafés still in business in Reykjavik and was the first coffee shop to make coffee with an espresso machine! They offer a range of drinks and cakes (ask which are vegan) and have non-dairy milk for coffee.
