Top 8 Things To Do In Amsterdam (Vegan Friendly)

Amsterdam is one of the most vegan-friendly places on the planet. While there, I found loads to do, see and eat, and this list compiles my top 8 must-do vegan activities in Amsterdam.

Eye Film Institute

I was lucky enough to visit the Eye Film Institue while the spectacular and thought-provoking "Trembling Landscapes" exhibition was on. The exhibition explores landscapes with some of the Arab world's most prominent artists who work with film and video. If you're lucky enough to visit Amsterdam in the near future, the exhibition is on until January 3rd 2021.

The museum also showcases a range of films from various Dutch and foreign filmmakers. Take a look at the Eye Institute website for more details and a full calendar of films and events.

Price: €11 (different ticket options available at slightly different prices).

Botanical Gardens

A beautiful attraction many miss while in Amsterdam is the Botanical Garden. Amsterdams Botanical Garden is one of the oldest in the world, having been established in 1638 by the city municipality as Hortus Medicus, a herb garden with medical plants for Amsterdam's doctors and pharmacists. Today, the garden is home to over 600 different plant species, and if you're visiting Amsterdam, it shouldn't be missed.

Price: €9 for an adult ticket

Baking class

Get baked in Amsterdam with this fantastic edibles workshop. Bake brownies (vegan option offered) with Sara and her co-hosts in a real Dutch home. An excellent and individual experience while visiting the Dutch capital.

Price: from €30 per person

Vegan Junk Food Bar

Okay, so we all knew this one was going to make it onto the list! I visited Vegan Junk Food Bar twice while in Amsterdam, and I think I fell in love. Fantastic food and an easy to reach location. There are now four different VJFB's dotted around the city; you can find your nearest one here.

Price: varies but budget around €20 per person.

Van Gough Museum

Whether you're an art lover or not, I think we can all appreciate the delightful work of Vincent Van Gough. View some of his great works and learn about the life of the slightly mad artist at the Van Gough Museum. I advise booking tickets online or using an AirBnB experience to skip the queue if you're visiting during peak times. Also, note there is no photography allowed in much of the museum, although there are some designated spots to take a quick selfie!

Price: €19 for an adult ticket

It's All About Christmas

It may be October, but that doesn't mean we can't start thinking about Christmas. Right? It's All About Christmas is there to put you in the festive mood all year round with its Christmas filled store in central Amsterdam. From baubles to lights and trees and more, It's All About Christmas is your go-to Christmas shopping stop!

Price: €0 free entry - items of variable cost available for purchase

SLA

If like me, you go to Amsterdam and indulge in vegan junk food for three days, you'll likely be craving the healthiest smoothie and salad by day four. SLA was a lifesaver! With their super healthy smoothies and juices and salads packed full of goodness, I felt better in no time. SLA have several outlets across the city so consult their website for details on the outlet closest for you.

P.S also a great place if you're looking for somewhere to work or study with good internet!

De Uitkijk (Cinema)

This iconic 1920s art-house movie theatre is beautiful both inside and out. As well as screening art house and independent films, de Uitkijk also hosts special screenings such as the Upload Cinema nights, the crowd-pleasing We Want Cinema screenings and French classic films in the Les maitres du Cinema series.
