The Best Sunrise & Sunset Spots in Barbados

During my two months in Barbados, I’ve seen some incredible sunrises and sunsets. As the sun descends in the evening, the sky glows gorgeous orange and pink colours; you have to take a stroll and appreciate the beauty of the evenings here in Barbados!

Today I’m going to share with you my top pics for sunrise and sunset spots in Barbados!

Sunset in Barbados

For Sunrises

The sun will generally rise on the southeast coast of the island, but this does change slightly throughout the year. To check exactly where the sun will rise and set during your visit, I recommend downloading the TPE app, which shows you the exact sun path lines.

Shark Hole Bay

On the south side of the island, you can get incredible sunrise views from Shark Hole Bay. This secluded little bay is a peaceful area with a small beach and views of the rigid coastline of the area.

Crane Beach

Located on the south east coast, Crane Beach is a great location to watch the sunrise year round.

Cherry Tree Hill

Possibly one of the most famous landscape view points in Barbados, Cherry Tree Hill also offers a beautiful spot for taking in the sunrise. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it to this spot for the sunrise but did manage to go and capture the incredible view during the day.

For Sunsets

Cobblers Cove

One of the least-known locations on this list is Cobblers Cove. This small beach is pretty local and sits on the island's west coast; lined with beautiful palm trees and covered in white sand, this cove is one of the island’s paradise beaches. You can also get a great view of the sunset from here and stunning photos of the fishermen on the jetty.

Cotton House Bay

This small, grassed area sits just above sea level and is a fantastic place for viewing sunrises and sunsets in Barbados. You should be able to see the sunset here year-round, but sunrises will be more visible here at certain times of the year. I recommend downloading the TPE app, which shows you the exact sun path lines.

This sunset spot isn’t as easy to find as some of the others on this list but it is listed on Google Maps here.

Enterprise Cliff

Lying just off Enterprise Coast Road, this cliff has a large grassed area and a stunningly placed palm tree (see image below) and is an excellent place to bring a beer and take in the sunset. I’ve also spotted a lot of turtles in this area so keep an eye out for their little heads bobbing up out of the water.

Freights Bay

A surfers paradise and a sunset chasers dream, Freights Bay is a beautiful location to watch the sunset and snap some pictures of the surfers in the waves simultaneously. The tide can come in pretty far here so its not always possible to sit on the beach in the evening (and be mindful of incoming tides if you do) but there are plenty of grassy areas slightly above the beach where you can comfortably sit and watch the waves and surfers go by!

Carlisle Bay

A must-visit spot while in Barbados is Carlisle Bay. Here you can swim in the shipwrecks, see sea turtles and, of course, watch stunning sunsets.

This concludes my list of sunrise and sunset spots in Barbados! If you have any other suggestions for locations to add to this list, contact me; I would love to hear from you.
